Poker strategy: Keeping things simple in low limit poker09.03.11

If you are just a beginner in poker, most likely, you will be playing in low limit poker games. It really does not require masterful poker skill to take advantage in these games. It basically involves outplaying poor opponents. At high limit pokers the game is a lot different and involves a lot of complex poker moves.

Winning in low limit poker games is straightforward. On these tables, you will not be on the spotlight. Other players will not be paying too much attention on you since they will be thinking of their own cards. They will be playing the cards they have as they always do it regardless of you being in the pot or not. If the players are like these, just keep things simple and play straightforward poker with not much of aggressive bets when you have a monster bluff, fancy bluffs, and just playing it tight.

If you want to deceive your opponents in low limit poker, you may want to try slowplayinig. You can easily fool other players that they have the best cards if they get a pair upon the turn, so letting them see another card when you got a strong hand can give you some advantage. Bluffing though is still complex at this level of play. Remember keep it simple and take advantage of the other players’ weaknesses without being too fancy.

While you are still beginning to hone your poker skills, try to master how you choose the starting hands that you will play, making use of pot odds to your advantage, and betting aggressively when the timing is right. Psychological techniques of poker does not apply much in low limit poker games as the other players do not give much attention to it. Keep it simple since being too fancy might just hurt your game.

Playing it tight for new poker players06.09.10

New players of poker are really eager to get into the action that they play their about eight percent of their cards in Texas Hold’em. One good advice for new poker players will be the opposite case of that picture—to play tight and play just around 20% of the cards they are dealt.

Understanding the Concept

Playing it tight has something to do with making decisions in playing poker. In any game, any one who decides better or best end up winning the game. The road to being a better poker decision maker is to make most of all the information that you have around you. When you play loose, you may be acting with the least amount information because it will be a guessing game what your opponents will do. Play it tight and you will be able to see how a player looks at his cards, look at the other players, see their posture, hold their chips, and other things which may be vital to make your calls.

The linguistics of Poker05.05.09

Pocket Aces GemacoProfessionalism is praised and appreciated in every sphere of life. So why not be professional when playing a game of poker too. It is imperative to know that poker is a game of gambling and has a separate lingo which players use over the table, for instance the lingo “tapped out” means that you have lost all the money. The game of poker is played with a deck of 52 cards and features 4 suits namely diamond, club, spades, and hearts.

While playing on a poker table every player has his/her different sign language to describe their partner the ‘hand’ on which they are playing. Hand basically means the cards which that player holds during the game. Right after the deal one declares his combination as “ace low” or “ace high” depending upon the number of aces you got after the deal. An “ace full” means that you have a full house containing of aces.

Joe Hachem turns the joint, QQ guy POW05.05.09

Pay Off Wizard!

Joe Hachem would never minraise there unless he had it. Plus, why did that guy smoothcall pre-flop? I know he’s scared to go out on the last hand — but his play it to re-raise hard there and take that hand down — no way AK would have pushed either for the same reason. Pocket Queens should have won a small pot there, that’s it.

He just gets punished for his bad play pre-flop, that’s it. Good thing for him he didn’t push on the flop, that would’ve been the TRUE killer play. ;-)
